You
Can Help!
The CSRF is
supported primarily by memberships and private donations.
"If
an organization is going to provide a public service, it needs
money. Plain and simple
Any nonprofit - whatever its purpose-grows
out of someone's idea, someone's passion to make the world better.
Raising money is inviting others to share in that belief, in that
passion
..Organizational fundraising can feel good because
it enables you to do something important for a cause you care
deeply about."

What is
a letter writing campaign?
Basically, you, our members, or other interested parties, send letters
to your family, friends and co-workers asking for support of the
CSRF.
How do I
do this?
If you'd like to send our standard letter, just download the file
below and print as many copies as you would like. If you'd like
to personalize your letter, select the Word file, make the modifications
that you would like, then print and send. If you would like your
modified letter on CSRF letterhead, please email your text in a
Word file to cushinfo@CSRF.net Handwritten letters have been shown
to be effective as well.

A Few Tips
Consider enclosing
the brochure that you can download here.
Response rates
are higher if return envelopes are included, so consider including
an envelope, with or without postage, addressed to: CSRF 65 E India
Row, #22B, Boston, MA 02110.
Other fundraising
ideas
If letter writing doesn't appeal to you, there are some simple things
that you can do.
- Financing
a Home? Ask Wells Fargo Home Mortgage about their Sharing Advantage
program that gives $300 to a charity of your choice when your
loan is closed.
- Have a birthday
or anniversary party and ask for donations to the CSRF in lieu
of gifts.
- For your
wedding, ask for donations to the CSRF in lieu of gifts.
- Have a cocktail
party and request donations at a cash bar.
- Have a car
wash or bake sale.
- Pick a product
to sell - chocolate, candles, scratch card, etc. To find options
and required volumes, do a web search on fundraising.
- Hold an
event - a bike ride, walk-a-thon, or dinner event. These require
a lot of planning. Information on planning events can be found
in some fundraising books.
- Do you make
something? Consider giving a portion of your profits to the CSRF.
- Plan a workshop
or demonstration that others would be interested in attending
and ask for donations. For example, a craft that you do well,
scrap-booking, silk or fresh flower arranging, cake or cookie
decorating, how to give a great massage, or anything else that
you know about.
How the
CSRF uses funds
The CSRF is a non-profit organization, founded in
1995, with goals of providing information and support to patients
and their families as well as increasing awareness in the medical
community, the general public and eventually, supporting research.
Since its inception, the CSRF has published a newsletter, provided
much needed information and patient networking services, printed
patient information, answered phone calls and mailed information.
Within the last several years, the CSRF launched a much needed,
very informative web site. All of these activities require funds.
The CSRF is presently staffed completely by volunteers and exists
solely from membership dues and private donations. The CSRF would
like to expand its efforts in the awareness arena to help patients
get diagnosed sooner. With increased support, the CSRF could develop
training materials for physicians, including Pediatricians (yes,
children get Cushing's too!), implement direct mail or advertising
campaigns, and hire part time staff to expand patient support services.
In the future, the CSRF would like to be in the position to sponsor
research. However, the CSRF cannot take on any of these crucial
activities without appropriate funding.
