Rita B., Transsphenoidal Pituitary Surgery, Gamma Knife

992_spring_2011

Hi there. I have been a member I guess since 1995. I am Rita. I have written 2 stories about my journey with Cushing’s for the newsletter. I have been in remission for 8 years since my second session with this disease. I had the Gamma Knife twice at Univ. of Alabama in a 2 year period of time. I still want to work as a RN but people in my small town still will not hire me after this long remission. So to help support myself I restore dolls. I just wanted other Cushing’s people to see what I do now. Even if you can’t do what you once could, you can find something enjoyable and creative to do! I have a website for my dolls at www.188ritas.com and I also use it to talk about Cushing’s. (There’s also some of my favorite old Beatles songs there!) I just wanted all of you to know that I am still in the world but now with doll restoration, and I would love to hear from you. Oh, yes I workout almost everyday; 30 minutes is a short work out and I sometimes go for 90 minutes! I use weights and the elliptical in a gym and I have many muscles now. I started making these muscles when I went in remission in my 40’s and I’m now 57. I also workout at home and many people can do that if they do not have transportation to the gym. By the way, I won a district bowling tournament!
