Question: I have had a lot of memory loss following successful transsphenoidal surgery. Is this normal and will my memory return to normal after I’m off of replacement medication?
Answer: Memory problems can occur for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it can be associated with rapid hormone changes, the development of hypothyroidism or other hormone deficiencies, depression, or medications. It definitely requires consideration of all the above factors. These memory problems, if not associated with any of these problems may subside but careful attention should be given to look for underlying causes.
